🗺️ The Experience a Mallorca Hike: Solitude and Sweeping Views
This variation on the Na Burguesa trail is designed to maximise panoramic views and unique features within a tight 10km window. The biggest bonus? Despite the convenient location, you rarely see anyone on this trail, allowing for a truly peaceful and solitary hiking experience.
The Three Phases of the Trail:
The Warm-Up (First 1.5 km): The hike starts out nice and easy with a flat approach on a wide trail, which is great for stretching your legs and getting into the rhythm before the main effort.
The Climb (3.5 km Ascent): This is where you earn the views! The trail turns into a steady, non-stop uphill climb, gaining almost all of the 585m elevation. The good news is that the path remains mostly wide, double-track, making the footing non-technical and secure. Lookouts are along the way, providing motivation and stunning glimpses of the coast.
The Descent and Exit (5.7 km Return): Once the hard work is done, you enjoy a 3.5 km descent before linking back up with the original flat path to exit.
Highlights You Can't Miss:
World-Class Lookouts: The reward for the climb is immediate and constant. Enjoy spectacular, sweeping views of Palma’s Bay, the residential areas of Bendinat, and the luxurious harbour of Portals Nous.
Seclusion is Key: You rarely see anyone on this trail, offering a wonderfully peaceful hike, a true hidden gem just minutes from the busy coast.
Cave Exploration: This custom route includes an opportunity for cave exploration, adding a unique, adventurous twist beyond a standard summit hike.
The Goats: Keep an eye out for the friendly local residents—there are lots of mountain goats in this area, adding a charming element to the Mallorcan landscape.
🎒 Essential Gear & Practical Tips
Given the concentrated climb and the exposure, proper preparation is key:
Gear Checklist:
Footwear: Sturdy trail runners or light hiking shoes are perfect due to the wide, double-track nature of the path.
Hydration: Bring a minimum of 1.5–2 liters of water per person, especially on warmer days. The ascent is long and exposed.
Sun Protection: Hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen in the summer season.
Navigation: While easy to navigate, download the route beforehand using the AllTrails link to ensure you follow this exact custom variation.
Access & Parking:
The trail access is conveniently located right from Portals Nous, making it one of the most accessible challenging hikes close to the capital.
